Primrose Cottage is a historic, grade 2 listed building dating to the early 17th century. The yellow-brick facade is a 19th-century addition. It has served time variously as a boarding house, shop and tea-room. It now provides bijou self-catering holiday accommodation with period features including beams, pine panelling and a large inglenook fireplace with oak bressumer.

The house is arranged over three floors. It is compact, snug and quirky - designed in a different era so headroom and storage space are restricted in places. There are very steep stairs to the top bedroom which makes the second bedroom unsuitable for young children, older or infirm people. (For this reason, sorry but we do not normally accept children under 11 years of age.) While these features add to the house's charm they may not suit everybody.

The following facilities are provided for your comfort and convenience:

  • Lock-up garage parking just over three minutes walk away. The garage is not huge so please check if you have a particularly large or tall car, in which case alternative arrangements can be made.
  • Double bedroom on the first floor with a cast-iron Victorian-style double bedstead
  • Attic bedroom on the second floor with twin beds
  • Working woodburner stove (with a chestnut roasting pan for late autumn evenings)

"Thank you for letting us use your lovely old cottage. We really have enjoyed our stay in Sandwich. And you know that we will be back in September."

Rose and Mick - Hertfordshire - 13 June 2015

"We have had a lovely few days in the cottage. The welcome pack made us feel right at home, despite a few bruised heads from the doorways! Sandwich is a very nice, sleepy town and we used the cottage as a base to explore the beaches around here and Thanet. Frida (our dog) very much enjoyed the beaches as it was her first time at the seaside. The weather has been lovely, specially on the walk on the sands from Broadstairs to Ramsgate. We really enjoyed coming back to the cottage after a long walk and setttling down in front of the fire with an exhausted dog and a takeaway! Was very nice to meet up with you for a drink too. We've had a great few days here. Thank you very much!"

Drummond and Lucy - London - April 2015
