Dogs Invited

We are dog friendly. Up to two quiet, well-behaved pets are welcome to stay by prior arrangement. A pet supplement of £20 per booking applies. (The second dog goes free). We will donate the whole dog fee to a dog charity.

Canine visitors have plenty to do. They are allowed into many pubs and eating places, either indoors or in the gardens. We keep a list in the cottage. Better still, there are walks to enjoy in fields and orchards, on chalk downland and on sand and shingle. A favourite is across St George's golf links to Sandwich Bay. Two long distance paths pass through Sandwich: the Stour Valley Walk and the Saxon Shore Way.

Sandwich Bay beach permits dogs all year round. Several miles long, it starts as shingle and becomes sandy towards the river mouth. In the opposite direction it is shingle all the way to Deal and beyond to Walmer, Kingsdown and St Margaret's. The various sandy beaches on the Isle of Thanet give access to dogs during the winter months: October to April inclusive. One of the best - Kingsgate - is all year round.

We ask dog owners to show consideration by keeping them off the furniture and not leaving them unaccompanied in the house.
